We are bringing together developers, artists and communities who care about this category, so its future gets sustained attention and focused development. **Our goal: build an open development community focused on how far art, NFTs and memes can go.**

Solana's open-source engineering can support different priorities. Solana is building a broad ecosystem across many categories. Solana Classic brings together developers who want to concentrate on art, NFTs, memes and the communities around them. The Solana Classic team currently runs its single validator - the computer that checks and records transactions. In the [playground](https://solanaclassic.net/playground), you can create a temporary test wallet, receive test units, create a demo meme token or NFT, transfer it, and inspect ownership and transaction records in the gallery and explorer. The wallet stays in browser memory; reloading loses access to it.

The [developer preview](https://solanaclassic.net/developers) has a connection manifest, identity-checked Node client and working NFT/meme mint examples. Both examples have passed on the actual devnet. **TEST/tSOC balances and demo assets have no monetary value or right to conversion into SOC.** The original SOC token is on Solana. Solana Classic mainnet and the bridge are not live. Current build, test and release results, including failed or pending gates, are on the [live roadmap](https://solanaclassic.net/roadmap). ## Build an application

Developers can deploy and upgrade their own SBF programs with the tested HTTP tool, then call them from browser apps through our public RPC. Start with [program deployment](developers/DEPLOY_PROGRAMS.md). Standard CLI/Anchor deployment RPC, WebSockets and production wallet custody remain later work. The [mainnet preparation plan](developers/MAINNET_LAUNCH.md) proposes at least 21 days for builders after the full preview is ready. No mainnet date is announced yet. ## How SOC is intended to work
